What is Recreation and Leisure?
Recreation and leisure is very important in today's society. Recreation is actively doing what you love such as hiking, fishing, boating, swimming, camping, and just being outdoors. I've played sports for my entire life so my life has been centered around recreation because it is something I am extremely passionate about. Leisure is simply what we do outside of working and recreation. Leisure is where you can relax and relieve all the stress that has built up in the course of your day and not have a care in the world. Why do we work? I believe that we work because we want to save for vacations and spend it on recreational activities for the family. Based on this statement, our life's can be based upon what we love about life. For example, as the baby boomers retire, they might have save up their whole life making the right investments so one day they can travel the world so they can relax and live life to the fullest. On a short term scale, leisure also can be watching TV, laying in the sun, or even checking your fantasy football league. Simply, recreation and leisure is what we look forward to in our day.

I was enthralled that you posed a question in the climax of your argument. This was a compelling passage. #swag
ReplyDeleteJake, If we have to work to do what we want to do, what happens when we love our work? Is that recreation in itself?
ReplyDeleteI thought your examples of leisure time was spot on, but can't recreational activities also be done while in leisure?
