What is Recreation and Leisure?

Recreation can be defined as an activity someone is participating in when not working. Recreation is often used in sports or physical activities explaining that the people taking part in the event are doing it for fun and not competitively. In certain sporting activities, there are recreational brackets and competitive brackets that split up the participants by ability and interest. This is a great example of how society defines recreation. Leisure is something that is taken up by recreation, and it can be defined as free time. Basic definition but it is filled with meaning. Leisure is good in some ways, and many people turn leisure into recreation. The purpose of being a member of the Lifetime Recreation LLC is to fill leisure with recreation. This promotes a healthy lifestyle and an overall happier individual.

  2. I like that the goal of Lifetime Rec is to fill leisure with recreation. We don't want to lay around and be lame in our free time, we want to make the most of our free time through games and activities.

  3. I enjoy how we placed similar roles on "leisure" and "recreation." It was interesting hearing how you gave the definition and then shared an example related to this course.

  4. I will agree with the part that people turn leisure into recreation but they don't necessarily have to.

  5. I think that sometimes people mistake leisure for laziness, but to me its just relaxation time or whatever you want it to be

  6. I loved your definitions of leisure and recreation. Especially when you mentioned "leisure is taken up by recreation". I also concur with your statement that the two "promote a healthy lifestyle and an overall happier individual."
